Powder Mountain

Guys, it was lovely when we left the house in tshirts. It was freezing at Powder Mountain! A crazy storm came in and it was so cold.

Tyler gets snuggled by his sisters keeping warm. Isn't that the cutest?

I immediately bought a hoodie from the merchandise tent, but as G was freezing and needing to warm up before the race, I lent it to him and the Bishop lent an extra tee to me.

Yep, that's hail. Besides that, pouring rain, lightning and wind. All hit intensely as the girls were racing. Poor girls! Then the sun came out and it was perfect weather for our boys.

But very very muddy.

Yep, pretty muddy.

That Thing With Feathers

I will explain. My favorite poem is "Hope" by Emily Dickinson.

Hope is the thing with feathers

That perches in the soul,

And sings the tune without the words,

And never stops at all,

And sweetest in the gale is heard;

And sore must be the storm

That could abash the little bird

That's kept so many warm.

I've seen it in the chillest land,

And on the strangest sea;

Yet, never, in extremity,

It asked a crumb of me.

Somehow this has always stayed in my memory, yet now as the world grows more frightening and uncertain, this idea of hope seems to become of increasing importance. Hence, That Thing With Feathers.
