Finally! A Candidate I can Vote For!

MissL runs for student council at her school. She had to write an essay about why she would be good at student council. From the essay and recommendations from her teachers, she was one of 14 girls (yes, sadly all girls.) selected out of a hundred to campaign. She and I worked on these cute posters and she wore a VOTE FOR ME shirt. Sadly, she didn't make the final cut, but is a winner to me. Love you Lily! You are the best!

That Thing With Feathers

I will explain. My favorite poem is "Hope" by Emily Dickinson.

Hope is the thing with feathers

That perches in the soul,

And sings the tune without the words,

And never stops at all,

And sweetest in the gale is heard;

And sore must be the storm

That could abash the little bird

That's kept so many warm.

I've seen it in the chillest land,

And on the strangest sea;

Yet, never, in extremity,

It asked a crumb of me.

Somehow this has always stayed in my memory, yet now as the world grows more frightening and uncertain, this idea of hope seems to become of increasing importance. Hence, That Thing With Feathers.
