24th of July Picnic

We enjoyed a little picnic at Pineview.  We didn't really think we'd be swimming, so didn't pack suits.  That didn't deter them, at least not Gman anyway.  It was really a good time.  As luck would have it there was a "Shamwow" in the back of the car he could sit on for the ride home.  Nice.

Snowbird

An evening spent with friends at their Snowbird timeshare.  These girls are good friends.

Baby shower gift

This was a fun shower gift.  It's my new fav. baby craft.  Custom wipes holders.  This one is for my cousin.  I made one for my sis-in-law as well.  They both turned out very different.  I think they're fun to have and easy to make.

Happy Birthdays

Birthday boy and birthday girl.  Can you tell which one of the girl's birthday it was?  Yeah, we had a hard time reminding MissL it was not her day.  Luckily her sis is pretty good at sharing.

Craft Lake City

I can't believe I almost missed it.  I just got wind of our first ever Craft Lake City boutique extravaganza, modeled after the Brooklyn/LA/San Fran/Chicago Renegade Craft Fair.  Just letting you know in case you might have missed it as well.    Check it out here.

Indian in the Cupboard

We had our second Book Club Party for the book, Indian in the Cupboard.  We had feathered indian brave headdresses  and made bear claw necklaces.  We watched the movie and ate indian corn.  Just kidding, popcorn and Mike-n-Ikes.

Kid's Supply Co.

When in NY we stumbled across this great store with furniture, bedding, art and accessories for kids.  The cool thing about NY is the stumbling.  There are great little pockets tucked all over.  You would probably have to live there to really get to know that city.  Anyhow, I asked the lady if I could take a few pictures.  We also saw an exhibit on felt.  (sounds strange I know, but it was really cool).  Now I'm feeling inspired by felt and this flower pillow.

Ruby Anniversary Dinner

We celebrated my parents 40th wedding anniversary last night.  Everyone was there, my brother and his family from Chicago, my sister-in-law who is ready to deliver her baby at any moment, and everyone else.  It was a beautiful evening, and a special occasion.  My grandma told me that your 40th anniversary is the Ruby anniversary, which I didn't know before hand.  So, give me a theme and I'm on my way.  Everything was ruby red.  Red velvet cupcakes, ruby red vases for the centerpieces, jeweled garlands, red chargers, party favors.  It was fun trying to making it special.  I hope it will be a great memory for them.  We had a friend come take photos of the family all together as our last family photo is a little out of date. Another friend gave me a ton of help with the cupcakes.  We figured out fondant together.  I am happy to have learned a new skill.  Everyone helped with food, and my brother and sister-in-law brought the tunes.  Top 20 from 1969, cute.  All in all, a nice night.

Our 4th of July attempt

Here are the kids getting ready for the 4th of July parade.  We had our blankets saving our spot, the girls had decorated candy bags.   We love the 4th.  Then rather than head to the parade, we took TY to the ER with kidney stones.  Not good.  He did much better once drugged and we even made it to fireworks.  What a trooper.

A few days in New York

Yankees, Gugenheim, MOMA, Central Park, Canal Street, H&M, the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island, Sarabeth's,  Cooper-Hewitt, Little Italy, and a lot of rain.  Oh, and some visits to lighting manufacturers.  (and a lovely dinner with one of the owners at his home)  A great week spent with TY.  Time to relax, reconnect and experience new things together.  It was wonderful.  Thanks to our moms: for all your efforts with the kids.
