Boys Book Club - Call It Courage

So, we are doing a book club for Gman and his friends this summer.  We are reading three books and having a party for each book.  Here is our first book party.  Call It Courage is a fantastic book if you're never read it.  It was also a great reason to have a Polynesian themed party.  I begged TY to come scare the kids with his Maori Warrior "skills".  It was great fun.

Coyote

Here is our beautiful MissC, coyote.  Her ballet recital was wonderful.  It was themed Utah and she was in the desert group.

Coming Together

I've been excited to post this quilt.  It's been a project we've been working on in Young Women's for some time.  I got the opportunity of overseeing this creative assignment.  We used the fabulous modern art of Gee's Bend as inspiration for this quilt.  Each of the girls did a block, I pieced it together and we quilted it by hand.  I was thrilled to be able to teach these girls a skill relatively unknown to their peers.  Not too many young women quilt these days.  I'm calling it "Coming Together" because it amazed me how each of the girls' beautiful contributions, unique and wonderful came together as a whole new creation, and became art.  This is our modern art.  We will soon be voting on a deserving and may I add lucky recipient to give the quilt to.  TY wants to make a contribution to girls' camp and keep it for himself.  This is not an appropriate suggestion, but I was flattered that he liked it so well.  Not that I can take credit for this quilt, it was a collaborative effort.  Most of it was completely out of my hands.  I love it!

Jesse

My brother bought a pony this week as his horses aren't really kid friendly.  What a great thing to do.  Talk about a fun uncle.  Since TY was racing past the house  it was a great day to spend in Tremonton and get to ride the new pony, Jesse.  What an amazing day, they loved loved loved it!

Tour de Cure

TY did so great at the Tour de Cure.  I was really proud of him.  His longest ride to date.  62 miles.  He didn't even collapse when he was done.  The other great thing:  he raised somewhere around $750 for Diabetes.  Pretty cool.  The route went right past my Grandparents' house, so the whole fam was cheering him on (and lots of other riders) as he went past.

Gunny Sack Racing

It would never have occurred to me to have a gunny sack race in the chair bags.  Only a child.  This turned out to be more entertaining for the kids than F16s.  Oh well, what ever floats their boat.

Hogle Zoo

We had a fun trip to the zoo with some of our neighbor friends.  I surprised Gman and checked him out of school at lunch time.  It was a good adventure.  And we got in free with our Tracy Aviary membership card.  Nice!

It's The House With The Yellow Door

Now I can say, "It's the house with the yellow door."  Hooray!  It only took us four years to agree on a color and paint over our white primed door, but now we love it.
