Le Coq Est Mort

Grandpa Jim came up to MissC's class to sing French songs with the kids.  It was amazing!  I haven't been in the French class because quite frankly I'm not really wanted.  Apparently too many parents can't keep their mouths shut in the class where only French is supposed to be spoken.  Now we're not allowed.  She doesn't speak much French around us, just a little in response to Grandpa's questions.  However, in the right environment...wow!  This was in the English class, but as soon as he sat down and said, "Bonjour!"  the entire class started talking to him in French.  He asked them questions, they responded.  They offered up compliments or random information as children do....all in French.  Then he taught them a few songs...."Le Coq Est Mort"  (The Rooster's Dead) was among them.  It was adorable. The kids were so cute and I was so thrilled that my dad was willing to come.  I'm grateful for his talent in languages and the way he interacts with the kids.  I was on a high the entire day.

I Am Happy To Announce...

I started an Etsy shop this week!  Exclusively Erin
Hand Made Jewelry.
(Why am I so nervous about posting this?  I can't imagine how scary starting a "real" business would be.  There is very little risk in this initiative, and yet still it has been a huge task to get started.  And, it's putting myself out there a little bit.)  I have had a ton of fun working on this creative project and am super excited about it!  As you know I am never really happy if I go too long without creating something.  Jewelry is a new outlet for me, but I am loving it (and TY loves that I don't have quilts strewn across the entire family room).  Etsy is your one stop for all things hand made and was the obvious place to sell my goods.  I'm hoping it will be a way to do what I love while staying at home with my sweet kids and benefit the family instead of just making messes.

Here is a sneak peak at what you might find.  And, as a side note, there is still more coming so watch for updates.

Please check it out, exclusivelyerin.etsy.com I hope you like it.  Oh, and maybe spread the word a bit too.  Thanks!!

An Inspiring Movie

On New Year's Eve we loaded up the kiddos and went to the local dollar movie theatre.  I was thrilled just to have made it through the ENTIRE movie.  Neither TY or I had to leave half way through spending the next hour in the foyer desperately trying to entertain one of the kids with whatever I could find in my purse or pockets.  No, we must be growing up, we made the entire movie!  LittleC fell asleep on my shoulder (cute!).  However, that aside....I was SO inspired by this movie.  Secretariat!  In a small way it helped me jump into a new adventure of my own.  I had ideas recently popping into my head I was excited about and the triumphant spirit of this movie made it seem like I could do anything.

I love this movie!  So....in case you haven't seen it yet, it went on sale today!  Hurry, go get it!

Oh......and watch for my big announcement TOMORROW!

(boy, I hope you'll be able to sleep tonight ;)

A Man of Few Words

Happy Birthday to my father-in-law.  I love this man.  I've never heard an unkind word uttered from his mouth.  He's the strong, silent type, so he usually doesn't have a lot to say, but he leads the family in a very wise way.  What I want my children to learn from their Grandpa Gary:  Obedience and hard work.  Two qualities he possesses and that I admire him for.

Fortune Favors the Brave!

I like this saying.  I keep telling myself that over and over.  I've got a little something up my sleeve I'm working on.  But, the enemy in my head keeps telling me, "You've tried this before and you always get knocked down, just get out of the ring!" But I will press on because I feel inspired to do so.  Wish me luck.  Hopefully I will announce soon.

County Report

It's 4th grade,  the year of the county report.  Gman's first real research project.  He knew first thing he'd do San Juan County, where his Grandparents and cousins live.  It was a big job.....for all of us.  I'm really proud of him.  It is not easy to know how to research a subject and turn that information into your own paper when you've never done it before.  It's apparently a skill you have to learn.  He did great!  This picture was taken from the inside of a diorama that we made of the night sky at Natural Bridges.  He had a lot of fun photographing it.  It took the three of us to man the flashlights just right to get the general lighting, the stars and to take the photo.  It was fun.

Holiday Photo Shoot

Finally everyone is (or was rather) healthy enough to go to church together.  A couple weeks late for our Christmas dresses, but still pretty.
