Perhaps the best part of East Canyon was the fishing. Can you envision my little MissL nonchalantly singing, "I caught a fish, I caught a fish..." as she heads up the hill from the shore to the campsite? I'm thinking, "surely not." and watch her come up the hill with the tiniest, cutest little baby fish. She caught it on her own. Grandpa wasn't even with her. It was so exciting! Then, she caught another, Gman caught a couple, MissC had the biggest catch of the trip and finally, after worrying about it for a while, LittleC caught a fish of his own and on his own. "I caught a fish all by myself!" he continued to repeat. (I still haven't got a picture of LittleC and his fish. When he caught his fish Ty was taking a nap in the cabin with the camera in his pocket, so I am borrowing Grandpa's picture).
Our last breakfast before breaking camp and heading out. Actually we really broke camp the night before because we had a LOT of wind and rain come through. It made for an easy morning. Here the kids are eating Apple Jacks and the adults are eating Katie's amazing homemade breakfast burritos. Yum.
We really missed having DJ and Heather with their kiddos up at camp. I know my kids in particular were missing their buddies. BUT, as I was giving Derek the recap on the phone about our adventures and how much we missed them, he shared some WONDERFUL NEWS that he took a new job and they are moving back! I am so pleased! He is a family man, kind of a home body and I am a mother hen and want to gather everyone in, so we are both really happy.
