PRC Ranch

I got these picts of a day at my brother's PRC Ranch. The kids love it there. They're a couple months old, but worth posting.

Warm Fuzzies

I borrowed this idea from General Conference, where the primary kids put a "warm fuzzy" in the jar every time they did some service for some one. We are putting warm fuzzies in the can from now until Christmas to give Jesus as a gift. On Christmas night we will put our full can under the tree. The kids are excited about it, but we have a long way to go.

Fall Clean-up Night

The other day we raced to get all the leaves raked up and bagged, the lawn mowed and the patio furniture put away before the snow came. We all worked together as a family. It was a lot of fun, but we worked hard...even the kids. Then while TY was finishing up the neighbor's lawn the kids started to play. I wasn't quite fast enough to catch it, but the sun lit up my tree and bushes like they were on fire. It was very magical.

Fashion Remix

TY and I went to this Fashion Remix put on by IIDA. Several Architecture/Design firms were teamed up with product vendors (like 3Form, Interface flooring, Armstrong Ceiling, Contempo Tile, etc) to create runway fashions out of interior design materials. It was impressive and very well attended too. Around 700 or more tickets sold. Photos will be coming soon. Very cool event. If they do it next year, maybe we'll get in on it.

An Evening in Excellence

I spent the better part of yesterday decorating our church for the Young Women's Evening in Excellence. We (actually mostly the girls) painted a ton of branches from my yard and also some pumpkins. Then with the help of my very creative friend, we made these cool arrangements. When you have an enormous room to decorate and a budget of about 20 bucks, you look to Mother Earth to help you out. Nature is beautiful, thanks to The Ultimate Designer. The theme for the evening was "A Time to Refine", focusing on our new value, VIRTUE. The color assigned to virtue is appropriately gold. So, of course everything was gold, and I thought turned out very elegant. Fun times.

The Warmth of October

This is on the front patio, looking in. In the fall especially, I want my home to look warm and welcoming, well lit. Plus, I want it tidy and smelling good. I'm not very good at keeping up with all that, but I have noticed I try a lot harder than in the summer. I love the fall...have I mentioned that? And being a home-mom. I love it!

A Really Good Idea

Do you save your children's artwork?  I try to hang onto things once in a while, but they're in different places all over, and I never date them so when my children are grown I'll have a handful of cute things, but not know who they belonged to or how old they were when they created it.  Here is a fabulous idea though (not mine).  Taking your child's drawing and turning it into something three dimensional is cool.  I've always planned to turn MissC's design creations into something real, but since I'm not a great seamstress, I've never gotten to it.  The "ugly" doll is the coolest thing.  I'm all over it.

Back To The Zoo For You

Do you have a mischievous little one like this?   MissL and I decided to load him up and get him back to the zoo, where he can hang with the other monkeys.  (Actually I think MissL likes that someone else is naughty.  She prays that LittleC "won't be naughty... any more.")  But, he's pretty cute, so I guess we'll keep him.  Seriously, I have recently been reminded that the tasks we do for our children that at times seem frustrating and even meaningless are actually quite sacred and a blessing.  Did you see NieNie on Oprah?  She is amazing!  

Preparing For Winter

I like the idea of "preparing for winter".  And while it's not as necessary in my neck of the woods (Albertsons, Target and Costco will still be available)  I love the concept.  And of course one day, who knows what will be available.  So, while I want to be harvesting my grapes, canning, stocking up on firewood (my wood burning fireplace doesn't actually work yet), preparing the yard.....I have been down with a back problem for a week now.  I'm doing much better, but certainly not working hard.  I'm ready to start working hard.  Or at least in my mind I'm ready.  

Push Pops

Last night for our Home Evening treat, we had a throw back to TY's youth, Push Pops (actually these are Push Ups).  When we bought our freezer TY started talking about the good old days, getting into his deep freeze growing up to get Push Pops.  He was very excited to show his kids one of his favorite treat memories.  They loved them of course.  MissC says "that was the goodest treat ever".  So Rosie, this post is for you.
